Terms of Service

Last updated 2 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Famoli. By creating an account or using the service you accept them.

Who you are dealing with

Famoli is operated from the United Kingdom by an individual, not a company. You can reach me at privacy@famoli.app.

Using Famoli

You may use Famoli to record and share your own family history. You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account, and you are responsible for keeping your sign-in details to yourself and for everything done through your account.

Please do not:

  • upload anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to share;
  • use the service to harass, expose, or build a dossier on someone;
  • try to reach trees, accounts, or data you have not been given access to;
  • attack, overload, or attempt to reverse-engineer the service, or scrape it in bulk.

What you record stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you put into Famoli. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content, show it to the tree members you have authorised, and process voice recordings for transcription and summarising. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.

You are responsible for the content you record, including information about relatives who are not users. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.

Automatically generated content

Famoli uses AI to transcribe voice recordings and to draft biography and timeline suggestions from them. These are drafts and they are sometimes wrong: names get misheard, dates get misread, and meaning gets lost — particularly across languages and accents. Review anything generated before you accept it. Do not treat Famoli as an authoritative record.

Availability and your own copies

Famoli is offered as it is, without any warranty that it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors. Features may change or be withdrawn, and the service may be discontinued; if it is, account holders will be given reasonable notice and an opportunity to export their trees.

We take care with backups, but you should keep your own copy of anything irreplaceable. A family recording that exists nowhere else is exactly the thing to keep a second copy of.

Ending the agreement

You may stop using Famoli at any time, and can ask for your account and data to be deleted by emailing privacy@famoli.app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people’s data at risk, and will tell you why where we can.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that, Famoli is a free service provided by one person, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for loss of data beyond what a reasonable person keeping their own backup would have avoided.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your home country.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the date at the top will change and account holders will be told by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Famoli after that means you accept the new terms.
